A new paddle

A greenland-paddle leaning on a green kayak on the one side and laying on a sandy beach on the other side.

For quite some time now I wanted to actually own a Greenland-Stick.

And for some reasons I found this kayaker on Fehmarn that builds Greenland-paddles for a hobby.

As I was going via Fehrmarn to our summer-holidays in Sweden I thought: Why not drop by and treat myself to a new paddle.

Yes! The communication could have been more explicit on my part! Sorry for that, Jochen.

But I managed to get my hands onto one of his amazing selection of sticks…

A rack with dozens of greenland-paddles

And what can I say: Two days later I finally tested it in the skerries on the swedish east-coast.

It is amazing!

I haven’t paddled many greenland-sticks yet, but this one is only slightly heavier than the carbon one I once was able to try, the rounded square profile of the handle in the middle in combination with the slight shoulder feels great in action. All in all I am absolutely happy with the paddle.

I was thinking of getting a different one where the handle was tilted in a 45° angle which felt even better when holding it. But the whole paddle was slightly heavier so I didn’t choose that one.

All in all: If you want to try a greenland-stick but don’t want to spent a huge amount of money and if you happen to come to Fehmarn, I can only recommend to check out one of those sticks from Jochen Jürgens!

No! I do not get any benefits from that link!
